THIS YEAR'S 2020 OMEGA PSI PHI INTERNATIONAL  ESSAY CONTEST WINNER IS LAUREL ROGERS

The Responsibility of a Young Citizen

“The responsibility of a young citizen”. Those are the words of Laurel Rogers, future Kinesiologist/Physical Therapist, and current Apoka High student when asked to describe the topic she was tasked with that declared her the 2020 Winner of the International High School Essay Contest sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Chi Tau Chapter (of Greater Orlando). The High School Senior’s entry garnered her first place at the local and State of Florida levels, and fraternity’s Seventh District competition, which included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. Coincidently, marking the second time Chi Tau Chapter has sponsored a trifecta winner. In so doing, Laurel will vie for first place and the chance to win a $5000 scholarship at the International Competition. Winning the top prize will serve her well as she seeks entry into one of the country’s foremost HBCUs, North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC.
